Kathryn Elaine is the owner and tattoo artist at RED FLAMINGO TATTOO. Kathryn specializes in Painterly Color tattoos with an emphasis on floral subject matter and ornamental accents.

Kathryn moved to New York City in 2016 to study drawing and painting at Parsons/ The New School. She was initially attracted to tattooing through her love of detail and fascination with human anatomy. Soon, Kathryn was instantly enamored with the human connection side of tattooing.

“There is so much fulfillment when collaborating with a person on an art piece that will be with them/on them forever. There is a small piece of me in every tattoo I do, and I hold a great deal of honor in this phenomenon.”

Due to the intimate nature of tattooing, and as a female artist in the tattoo industry, Kathryn prioritizes warmth and safety in vulnerable spaces. Her main objective in opening Red Flamingo Tattoo is not just to give people their dream tattoos, it’s also to ensure their experience is just as special and memorable.

Kathryn continued her studies and graduated with her BFA in Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design in 2020 and apprenticed for 4 years under renowned tattoo artist Anil Gupta at Inkline Studios in the Lower East Side, NY
